GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the general direction of the Regional Operations Manager with the clinical supervision of the reading physician, performs examinations of patients.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs ordered examinations in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading physician.
2. Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the mobile coach/facility and during the exam.
3. Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company sponsored training programs.
4. Completes and signs the Patient Screening form and reviews/explains the procedure to the patient.
5. Transports patients to and from the mobile coach/facility. Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the mobile coach and during the exam.
6. Provides images to the facility in the desired site format.
7. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
8. If applicable, assists with the set up and tear down of equipment in accordance with SMS and/or manufacturers’ guidelines.
9. Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the mobile coach/facility.
10. Completes necessary administrative tasks. i.e.: time reports, billing, QA, etc.
11. Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
12. Cooperates with facility healthcare professionals and complies with facility policies/procedures.
13. Complies with all safety policies and regulations.
14. Maintains current Licenses in all states in which services are performed.
15. May assist with set up of mobile coach upon arrival and pack up prior to departure.
16. Performs additional duties as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
1. Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program
2. High School graduate or equivalent
Special Skills and Requirements:
1.
Before April 28, 1999: Must be certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or American Registry of Clinical Radiologic Technologists or Licensed to perform general radiographic procedures in a state AND have 40 hours of training in mammography.
2.
After April 28, 1999: Must be certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or American Registry of Clinical Radiologic Technologists or Licensed to perform general radiographic procedures in a state AND have 40 hours of training in mammography including: training in breast anatomy and physiology, positioning and compression, QA/QC techniques, and imaging of patients with breast implants, AND have 25 mammography examinations under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA-qualified individual.
3. Must have 8 hours of training in using a mammographic modality (e.g., digital), before beginning to use that modality independently.
4. Must perform 200 mammographic examinations over a 24-month period.
5. Must have 15 Category 1 CEUs in a 36-month period.
6. Must be able to interact with client personnel and SMS team members in an autonomous, responsible, professional and ethical manner.
7. Must be able to produce very high quality imaging with little supervision.
8. Must be willing and able to assist the Radiologist, Surgeon, or other specialist.
9. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
10. Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
11. Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.
12. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.
13. Able to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.
14. Must be willing and able to train and assist other team members.
15. Must be able to safely transport patients with or without assistance.
16. Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
17. Must pass drug screen and physical.
18. Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.
