SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

GENERAL SCOPE OF DUTIES: Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Information Systems, this position is responsible for assisting with support, implementation and maintenance of all IT related functions, including system and network administration, server maintenance, performing system monitoring and back-up operations, implementation of operating system patches and upgrades, equipment maintenance, help desk, and the provision of general and high level IT support with excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide highest level support per request from various constituencies – break/fix for internal and remote
  • Contribution to and maintenance of systems standards
  • Assist in developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures
  • Installation and configuration of data center and user equipment
  • Daily system monitoring and proactive maintenance of data center and user equipment
  • Troubleshoot system issues and outages
  • IT Help Desk Support for all IT Systems
  • Monitoring and executing daily backup operations
  • Participation in on-call status during the week and weekends
  • System security, including adherence to documented processes and procedures and compliance auditing
  • Assisting team members in troubleshooting and resolving any IT related issues

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Associate’s degree with a focus on Information Technology and/or other technical major
  • Microsoft Desktop, Microsoft Server, VMware and Networking technology certifications are strongly preferred
  • Must possess valid driver’s license with good driving record

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A minimum of 3 years Systems Administration experience in a small to mid-size business
  2. Ability to provide a high level of Customer Service over the phone and in person is required
  3. Windows Server and Desktop installation and configuration
  4. Working knowledge of core Microsoft Desktop technologies: Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 Pro
  5. Working knowledge of core Microsoft Server technologies: Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  6. Working knowledge of vendor-agnostic solutions: Antivirus, Backup, Monitoring, Ticketing
  7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.) is preferred
  8. Familiarity with VMware virtualization and shared storage technologies is strongly preferred
  9. Vendor-agnostic router, firewall, and switch configuration and management experience is strongly preferred
  10. Strong knowledge and experience in system security best practices (HIPAA, NIST) is strongly preferred
  11. Problem management skills in a fast paced, widely distributed environment
  12. Knowledgeable in technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  13. Ability to train staff on new technologies
  14. Ability to install and configure software and hardware
  15. Ability to work independently with limited direction
  16. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  17. Ability to work with confidential information
  18. Detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task and prioritize
  19. Ability to occasionally travel, if needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Performs most duties in office environment under artificial lighting, with some daylight from windows or doors.
  2. Building is air conditioned during the summer months and heated during the winter season.
  3. Building has both carpeted and tiled floors.
